Madeleine's nursing career started in the 80's working within the upper GI speciality in Newcastle. This was where she became one of the first upper GI Macmillan Nurses, developing patient cancer pathways, working with both acute and community services.

The interest in enteral feeding developed and saw Madeleine setting up and developing Nutrition nurse services across Trusts in the Northeast of England, in a variety roles . Following retirement at the end of 2020, she returned to work at a local Trust develop their Nutrition Nurse service and enteral pathways.
